In a recent post on X, journalist Ben Jacobs mentioned that Liverpool are set to make an offer for Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez. It has been stated that the Hungarian left-back has agreed to join the Reds but the Cherries have placed a £40m+ price tag on his head.

Kerkez’s Impressive Form In The Premier League

Kerkez had a solid campaign at Bournemouth recently as he put in a handful of promising displays on the left side of their defence. The Hungarian talent participated in 41 matches for the Cherries last season, scoring two goals and picking up six assists across various competitions.

The 21-year-old made 52 tackles, 38 blocks and 45 interceptions for Bournemouth in the Premier League last season. He even distributed possession relatively well from the left flank after completing 75.8% of his attempted passes in the top tier of English football (stats via fbref.com).

Kerkez is under contract at the Vitality Stadium until the summer of 2028 which could make it difficult for the Reds to secure his services on a cut-price deal this off-season.

Should Liverpool Boss Arne Slot Bring Kerkez On Board?

Kerkez is a solid tackler of the ball and can make some important interceptions for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive.

The Hungarian full-back is a good crosser of the ball as well and can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals from the left flank. He is primarily a left-back but can also play as a left-winger if required.

Kerkez was playing at a high level for Bournemouth last season. Thus, it is only logical for Liverpool to try and lure him to Merseyside this summer. The Hungarian talent would bring more quality to Arne Slot’s defence. He has what it takes to challenge for a regular starting spot at Anfield next season.

At 21, Kerkez has the potential to be a world-class left-back someday. Therefore, the Reds would be wise to try everything they can to bring him on board this summer. Slot has shown that he is a good, man-manager and his mentorship could be ideal to get the best out of Kerkez at the Merseyside club.
