In a recent report, renowned journalist Rudy Galetti mentioned that Liverpool are keeping tabs on Red Bull Leipzig talent Castello Lukeba. It has been stated that Arne Slot is a big admirer of the French centre-back as the Reds looks to move in for him this summer.
Lukeba enjoyed a decent campaign at the German club as he managed to put in a run of solid displays at the heart of their backline. The French talent was involved in 31 matches for Red Bull Leipzig last season on all fronts.
The 22-year-old was a rock at the back for Leipzig after he made 31 tackles, 29 blocks and 17 interceptions in the Bundesliga. He was even tidy when distributing possession from inside his half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 85.1% in league football (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the German club will run out in the summer of 2029 which could make it difficult for Liverpool to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

Lukeba is a solid tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to earn the ball back for his side on the defensive end of the field. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot.
The French defensive ace is also proficient at playing his way out from the back. However, only time will tell whether he can adjust to the physical nature and high intensity of the Premier League if the Reds manage to get him on board in this summer transfer window.
We can expect Lukeba to add more bite and steel to Liverpool head coach Arne Slot’s defence. He would even serve as an ideal successor to Ibrahima Konate, who has just got a year left to run in his contract at Anfield.
At 22, Lukeba has the potential to become a world-class player in his position someday. Therefore, Slot would be wise to go all out to bring him to Merseyside this summer. However, the Liverpool boss has to be patient with his progress before he can unlock the best out of the talented centre-back.
