Raheem Sterling broke the deadlock midway through the first half with his third goal for the club, slotting past Gavin Bazanu from close range after Romain Perraud had originally denied him with a last-gasp tackle.

However, the Saints were level five minutes later when Roméo Lavia struck a powerful drive past Edouard Mendy from the edge of the box after a corner had been cleared into his path.

Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side completed the turnaround in first-half stoppage time with Adam Armstrong tucking into the far corner through a crowded penalty area after being picked out by Perraud’s cut-back.

Scorers: Gordon 18′.

The visitors stormed ahead after 18 minutes when Anthony Gordon got on to the end of Alex Iwobi’s pass and slid the ball past Illan Meslier from inside the box.

Leeds were then dealt another blow when top goalscorer Rodrigo had to be replaced after picking up a shoulder injury in a collision with Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Fulham v Brighton and Hove Albion

Scorers: Mitrović 48′, Dunk (OG) 55′; Mac Allister (PEN) 60′.

Aleksandar Mitrović bagged his fifth goal in five games to give the Cottagers the lead at the start of the second half, touching home at the far posts after being picked out by Neeskens Kebano’s cross.

Fulham doubled their lead moments later with Mitrović setting them away on a counter attack after winning the ball and Brighton’s Lewis Dunk eventually turning in Andreas Pereira’s ball.

Scorers: Zaha 59′.

Wilfried Zaha broke the deadlock with a stunning strike, curling into the top corner from the edge of the box after cutting inside on to his right foot.
