PSG v Juventus

Scorers: Mbappé 5′, 23′; McKennie 53′.

It took PSG just five minutes to open the scoring, and it was a strike of sublime quality to do it.

Neymar’s delicate, chipped pass set the ball on a plate for Kylian Mbappé to volley past Mattia Perin from close range.

The Frenchman doubled their advantage with a well-taken first-time effort just inside the box after playing a one-two with Achraf Hakimi.

Juventus got themselves back into it at the start of the second half with Gianluigi Donnarumma coming for and missing Filip Kostic’s corner, allowing Weston McKennie to head home.

Celtic v Real Madrid

Scorers: Vinícius 58′, Modrić 59′, Hazard 77′.

The champions had to deal with losing Karim Benzema in the first half after he had to go off injured but they scored twice in two minutes to deal Celtic a huge blow.

Federico Valverde’s low cross across goal was dispatched by Vinícius Junior before Luka Modrić wriggled through the defence before caressing the ball into the bottom corner with the outside of his boot.

Real made it three late with Toni Kroos’ lofted pass laying it on a plate for Dani Carvajal to touch the ball across goal for Eden Hazard to poke home from inside the six yard box.

Sevilla v Manchester City

Scorers: Haaland 21′, 67′, Foden 58′.

Manchester City stormed into the lead in the 21st minute, and it was that man again – Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian netted on his Champions League debut for Man City, getting on to the end of Kevin De Bruyne’s cross and poking home into the empty net from six yards out.

Phil Foden danced past two Sevilla defenders before seeing his left-footed strike end up in the bottom left corner to give the visitors a cushion in Seville.

Haaland added his second in the 67th minute, tapping in after Bono had originally saved Foden’s shot.

RB Salzburg v Milan

Scorers: Okafor 29′; Saelemaekers 40′.

Noah Okafor gave Salzburg the lead just before the half-hour mark, beating Pierre Kalulu in the box before slipping the ball through the legs of Mike Maignan.

However, Milan equalised just before half-time when Alexis Saelemaekers took one touch before smashing home Rafael Leão’s pull-back from 12 yards out.

RB Leipzig v Shakhtar Donetsk

Scorers: Simakan 57′; Shved 16′, 58′ Mudryk 76′.

The visitors were given a gift to break the deadlock with RB Leipzig goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi dallying on the ball, allowing Maryan Shved to pinch the ball off his feet and slot the ball into the empty net.

Mohamed Simakan equalised for Leipzig in the second half, placing in at the near post after being played in by Dominik Szoboszlai but Shakhtar restored their lead a minute later with Shved seeing his toe-poked effort take a huge deflection on the way in.

Mykhaylo Mudryk made it three with a left-footed finish after Shakhtar broke away from a Leipzig corner.

Scorers: Silva 50′, Grimaldo 58′.

Benfica made the breakthrough just after half-time when Rafa Silva finished off a well-worked team move, poking home Alex Grimaldo’s cross at the near post.

Grimaldo turned from provider to score in the 58th minute, smashing a stunning drive into the top corner from 30 yards out.

Lacklustre Chelsea stunned by Dinamo Zagreb

Scorers: Oršić 15′.

Chelsea slumped to an opening defeat in Croatia as Mislav Oršić’s loan goal defeated the Blues.

Thomas Tuchel handed a debut to striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Chelsea kicked off their campaign in Zagreb.

But the Blues found themselves behind after 15 minutes as the hosts sprung a stunning counter-attack with Oršić beating Wesley Fofana for pace, running through on goal and chipping the ball over Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The situation could’ve got worse for them early in the second half with Arrizabalaga having to produce a stunning one-handed save to tip Stefan Ristovki’s 25-yard effort onto the bar.

Chelsea struggled to fashion clear-cut opportunities but as the clock ticked towards added time, Tuchel’s side came close twice. First, Reece James struck the post before Mason Mount was denied by an excellent Dominik Livaković save on the follow-up.

Hakim Ziyech fired two late free-kicks straight into the Zagreb wall as the hosts held on for a historic win and pile further pressure on the Chelsea boss.

Dortmund got their Champions League campaign up and running with a commanding victory over Copenhagen.

Dortmund captain Marco Reus broke the deadlock for the hosts after 35 minutes, receiving Julian Brandt’s pass in the box before dancing past a defender and slotting the ball past Matthew Ryan.

Raphaël Guerreiro doubled the lead moments later, tapping into the empty net after being found by Giovanni Reyna’s cut-back.

On his 17th Champions League appearance, a competition record for an English teenager, Jude Bellingham stroked home Reyna’s cutback to make it 3-0 in just over five minutes left on the clock.

Copenhagen thought they’d found a consolation goal late in the encounter as Rasmus Falk put the ball in the back of the net, only for VAR to pull play back due to an earlier offside.
