The imminent return of Leny Yoro will be all the sweeter for Ruben Amorim following the news that, once healed, the Frenchman’s injury shouldn’t become a recurring problem.

Manchester United forked out £52m for the teenager in the summer, but he is yet to play a competitive game for the club after fracturing his foot in a pre-season friendly.

Yoro has returned to training, although is not participating in every session by way of a phased return, as he targets full fitness.

And once he gets there, according to the Manchester Evening News, there’s no reason for him to relapse.

The newspaper quotes injury expert Ben Dinnery, who explained the silver lining of a broken bone compared to a torn muscle.

“The actual injury itself is a bone injury. It’s a metatarsal fracture,” he said.

“So once that bone is healed you’re not going to get any real sort of long term issues with that, or rarely do you.”

United fans have been desperate for a glimpse of the youngster, who is widely seen as one of the brightest young defensive talents in the world.

And while expectations must be managed, there is real hope that he will come in to a troubled backline and make an immediate impact.

Amorim explained that he and his staff are carefully managing Yoro. Speaking recently, the United manager said “He is available to train, but we are working on his fitness.

“This is important. We believe a lot in him, and we are trying to prepare the best way to start with Leny.”

The games come thick and fast for the Red Devils throughout December and rotation will be necessary, so hopes are high for Yoro to make his United debut before the end of the year.
