Leicester City have most recently been linked to the loan signing of Miguel Almiron of Newcastle United in the January transfer window.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will be eager to bring some new additions to the Foxes squad during his first transfer window as manager of Leicester City. He has begun life at the helm well, but if he is to achieve his aim of keeping the Foxes afloat this season, he might need to bring in some new faces.

According to a report from The Sun, Leicester City are one of three Premier League clubs interested in signing Miguel Almiron on loan in the January transfer window. They could face competition from Crystal Palace and Wolves... Along with Marseille and Stuttgart as European competition.

It is believed that Miguel Almiron is desperate to leave Newcastle United before the end of the season. This is due to the Paraguay international struggling for game time this season.

Furthermore, Newcastle appear eager to offload him. They would like to recoup some money due to complying with Financial Fair Play rules while freeing up some space and allocation to make their own signings.

The Magpies experienced all the highs of the 2022/23 season, when they finished in the Premier League top four and qualified for Champions League football, against all odds.

The following season was not as good but they did put in some good displays in the Champions League, not least when they beat Paris Saint-Germain at home, with Miggy scoring the opening goal.

However, Miguel Almiron has been very hit-and-miss. While he has shown the potential to be a quality player, there remain question marks over his ability to produce an end product.

Perhaps working under Ruud van Nistelrooy, who knows a thing or two about how to finish under pressure, could be of great benefit to Almiron. Leicester have certainly been known to save players who might've been ruled out by other fans, after all.

It remains to be seen how this deal would be structured. We can assume that, given Newcastle's need to sell players, Leicester might be able to interweave an option or an obligation to buy at the end of their potential loan contract.
