After Leicester City beat West Ham 3-1 in the Premier League last night, new boss Ruud van Nistelrooy has placed Julen Lopetegui under pressure.

There were smiles around at the King Power Stadium last night. It was Ruud van Nistelrooy's first match at the Leicester City helm and it was a game which Leicester won rather comfortably - Beating West Ham by a 3-1 scoreline.

We are sure there would have been a sigh of relief when Ruud van Nistelrooy hit the pillow last night. While he is the right man for the job seemingly, he won't be naive to the fact that he has a big job on his hands. To begin his tenure with three points would have been relieving, then.

However, last night was not so relieving for Ruud van Nistelrooy's opposite number. Indeed, last night only put more pressure on Julen Lopetegui.

Taking over from David Moyes in the summer, the Spanish manager has had a horrid start at the London Stadium. After the result, Leicester are only two points behind West Ham now.

Considering the Foxes fired their manager, the same question must soon be asked of the Hammers now that the two clubs are within touching distance.

According to Fabrizio Romano on X (formerly Twitter), last night's result has placed Julen Lopetegui under "serious pressure."

West Ham have a pretty good run of fixtures coming up, before they face the league leaders Liverpool and the champions Man City during the new year period. So, there will be plenty of eyes on Lopetegui, if there aren't already.

Make no mistake about it - Both Leicester and West Ham are still in the relegation battle. However, if last night's display is anything to go by, then the Foxes are setting themselves up on good stead, with the Hammers moving in the opposite direction.
