Leeds United have agreed personal terms with TSG Hoffenheim midfielder Anton Stach, according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.
Leeds want to bolster their options in the middle of the park following a return to the Premier League and are closing in on a move for Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff.
Whites manager Daniel Farke wants more quality additions to his team at the Elland Road club, and Stach has agreed to join them.
However, Leeds and Hoffenheim have yet to reach an agreement, with talks ongoing between both clubs.
The Bundesliga club want around €20 million, including add-ons, for the two-time Germany international as he is still under contract until 2027.
The West Yorkshire club will be facing fierce competition from other suitors for the 6ft 4in Stach as Hoffenheim have received several enquiries for the 26-year-old across Europe.
Manchester United are also keen on the German, but it appears he prefers to join Leeds ahead of them and other suitors.
Stach brings much-needed experience and quality to the table having made 122 Bundesliga appearances and weighed in with five goals and 16 assists for the likes of Mainz 05 and Hoffenheim, and his versatility is a trait Farke could do with.
While he is primarily a central midfielder, the Leeds target can also play at centre-back and as a defensive midfielder, with tackling and ball interception some of his major strengths.
Stach likes to shoot from distance and plays the ball off the ground often, and he is unlikely to struggle to hit the ground running in the Premier League if he joins the Elland Road club.
Leeds have added Lukas Nmecha and Sebastiaan Bornauw from Wolfsburg, Jaka Bijol from Udinese, and Gabriel Gudmundsson from Lille to their first-team, with Longstaff expected to follow, and a deal for the Hoffenheim star could be next if both clubs can reach an agreement.
