Leeds United are reportedly interested in a move for Tomas Soucek this summer
West Ham are open to offers for midfielder Tomas Soucek this summer amid interest from Leeds United, and have set their price-tag for the experienced Czechia international.
According to Football Insider, the Whites are keen on the 30-year-old as they prepare for life back in the Premier League.
Daniel Farke’s side guaranteed their place in the top flight with two games to spare after Burnley’s 2-1 win over Sheffield United last Monday.
The Yorkshire outfit will now turn their attention to the transfer market, as they look to strengthen in order to maintain their place in the division beyond just one campaign.
West Ham are seeking somewhere between £10 million to £15 million for Soucek in order to let him go this summer.
It’s believed that Farke is keen on adding experience to his Leeds options this summer in order to build a team capable of surviving in the Premier League.
This has led to interest in Soucek, who has been with the Hammers since January 2020 after moving from Slavia Prague.
It’s understood that the Czechia international is seen as an ideal addition to the Leeds squad for next season's tilt at the Premier League.
However, it remains to be seen whether the Whites will pay the eight-figure fee being sought by the London outfit.
Soucek has made 30 appearances in the Premier League so far this season, contributing seven goals and one assist.
A 6-0 win over Stoke City on Monday set up Leeds to gain automatic promotion to the Premier League ahead of Burnley’s clash with Sheffield United.
The Blades’ eight point gap with just two games remaining means they cannot be caught, and their sights will now be set on claiming the second division title ahead of the Lancashire outfit, and two wins from their final two games should be enough given their advantage over Burnley on goal difference.
Soucek has proven a great signing for West Ham, playing a big role for the Hammers over the years.
But his performances have taken a dip this year, and it’s no surprise that they’d be open to offers in the summer.
However, it’s not a signing Leeds should be prioritising at this point, as £10 million-£15 million could be better spent elsewhere.
While the desire for experience makes sense, there’s no guarantee Soucek would actually be an improvement on their midfield options, and would likely also want a sizable wage packet too - Leeds should be aiming for younger with more sell-on value.
