Leeds United could turn to Krasnodar attacker Eduard Spertsyan after missing out on a loan deal for Facundo Buonanotte, according to The Athletic journalist Beren Cross.

Leeds were in talks to bring the 20-year-old Argentine to Elland Road from Brighton & Hove Albion in a temporary deal during the week.

However, Chelsea have pipped the Whites to Buonanotte despite them having a flight to Yorkshire arranged and a medical booked.

Leeds manager Daniel Farke could now turn to one of his former players in Spertsyan.

Farke briefly worked with the 25-year-old during his three-month spell as manager of Krasnodar, and a reunion could be on the cards.

The Armenian international has 49 goals and 39 assists in 153 appearances for his club.

Spertsyan predominantly plays as a number ten but can also feature on the left wing, and he could be open to joining Leeds.

The Krasnodar star has never played outside of the Russian top flight, and whether he has what it takes to hit the ground running is unknown.

Farke appears to be an admirer, and the opportunity to work together again could appeal to both parties.

Tottenham Hotspur attacker Manor Solomon is another player Leeds could turn to if deals for other options fall through.

He remains open to returning to the Elland Road club after an impressive loan spell last term, and talks could take place over a deal in the coming hours.

Leeds need all the firepower they can get to boost their survival chances this season. While missing out on Buonanotte is a significant loss, other attackers are available.
