Le Parisien: Lille renewal cannot be ruled out for Fonseca despite Milan links | OneFootball

Paulo Fonseca has been heavily linked with AC Milan in recent weeks as Stefano Pioli will be replaced ahead of next season. However, according to a report, the Portuguese manager could still decide to renew with Lille.

Lille have done quite well this season, on the verge of securing direct Champions League qualification with a third-place finish. They just need to match the result of Brest tonight to seal the deal, currently ahead on both goal difference and head-to-head record.

According to Le Parisien, as cited by Francesco Nasato, a contract renewal with Lille cannot be excluded for Fonseca. The 51-year-old’s current contract will expire in June and he has made it clear before that he’s yet to decide his future, set to evaluate all possible options.

Milan are watching on with great interest, having made Fonseca one of their top candidates, and it remains to be seen what the outcome of the saga will be. In the meantime, the Rossoneri are expected to announce the departure of Stefano Pioli.

This announcement will allow the Rossoneri fans to give Pioli a proper farewell in the final game of the season, scheduled for next weekend. After the defeat against Torino last night, a win would be nice for the manager.
