Lazio have reportedly resumed their dialogue with Empoli over young Italian midfielder Jacopo Fazzini.
The Biancocelesti are determined to add a central midfielder to their ranks before the end of the January transfer window. The club has been linked with various profiles, but Fazzini was thought to be on the verge of finalizing his move to the Italian capital a few weeks back. The player was keen to join Marco Baroni’s team, but the two clubs failed to reach an agreement.
Empoli president Fabrizio Corsi described Lazio’s offer as ‘unacceptable’, which warranted a swift reply from Claudio Lotito who insisted that his club’s proposal was fair enough. Following his back-and-forth media altercation, the negotiations were put on ice, much to Fazzini’s dismay, prompting Lazio to pursue other suitors.
Nevertheless, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reveals that Lazio have revived their attempts to land Fazzini. The transfer market expert reveals that the two clubs have expressed their desire to resume negotiations. While no decisive steps have been made thus far, we could witness interesting developments in the coming hours.
In the meantime, we can expect the Aquile to keep alternative tracks, the one that could lead to the likes of Hellas Verona’s Reda Belahyane and Chelsea’s Cesare Casadei.
