Lazio could be looking to reinforce their midfield in January by poaching an affordable profile, so they have reportedly identified Adrian Zeljkovic as a candidate for the role.

The Slovenian international rose through the ranks of Celje before joining Olimpija in 2020. He also went on to represent Tarbor Sezena and has been developing his game at Spartak Trnava since the summer of 2023.

The Biancocelesti were linked with the midfielder in the summer but a deal never materialized. Zeljkovic was also very close to joining Sparta Praga, but eventually opted to remain in Slovenia while awaiting a more prestigious opportunity.

Lazio Contemplate Signing Zeljkovic in January

According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, the Italian capital is now considering reviving its attempts to land the 22-year-old in January. As the source explains, Zeljkovic is accustomed to playing in a double pivot within a 4-4-2 formation that isn’t too dissimilar to Marco Baroni’s tactical system.

Lazio have also been linked with Baroni’s former Hellas Verona pupil Reda Belahyane, but the Gialloblu don’t intend to part ways with the Moroccan before the summer. Therefore, landing Zeljkovic could be a more plausible mission for the Aquile in January. The Slovenian is currently valued at circa €5 million, but the Italians could even secure him at a lower price.
