The young generation of today that follows and supports FC Barcelona is well aware of the club’s successful history. Beyond just being a team that regularly wins titles, the club is a symbol of the game itself and for the way it redefined the sport. Even today, Barcelona gives a lot of value to the way that they win games.
Recently, former player Ivan Rakitic even spoke about the new team and discussed several players in his interview. Lamine Yamal, for instance, was a key topic in that discussion and the now-retired Rakitic seems to have full confidence in the 17-year-old winger.
As for Yamal himself, today marks his last day being 17 years old and he will finally be turning 18 tomorrow on his birthday. After that, he is expected to receive the iconic number ‘10’ shirt worn in the past by the likes of Lionel Messi and Ronaldinho.

Interestingly, both of those players make it into his all-time favourite eleven at Barcelona. As quoted by SPORT, the Spanish winger recently picked eleven of his most favourite players according to his own personal taste and preference.
Maintaining a 3-4-3 formation that would let him put three defenders in, four midfielders, and three forwards up top. Starting off with the goalkeeper, however, Yamal’s pick was quick and clear:
“In goal, I choose Víctor Valdés, because to me, he’s the most iconic keeper we’ve had and the one I watched growing up.”
As for the Barcelona defense, he picked three very popular names that most young fans would recognise as well:
“In defense, I pick Gerard Piqué, Puyol, and Mascherano.”
Over in the midfield, he picked what is arguably the greatest midfield trio in the sport’s history, and coupled them with one of the greatest entertainers that the game has seen as well:
“In midfield: Xavi, Iniesta, and Busquets—obviously. And I’ll put Ronaldinho there too, because I already know who I want up front, and there won’t be room.”
Up top, however, his picks were all tried and tested ones. From his idol to the greatest player in Barcelona history, he chose a trident that has bulldozed over Europe in the past together:
“Up top, obviously Messi. I wanted to include Neymar because he’s my favorite player, and as the striker, Luis Suárez—he’s top class for me.”
With that, Yamal concluded his picks for his all-time favourite Barcelona eleven. From Lionel Messi to Victor Valdes, it is a team stacked with quality and which undeniably has won way too many titles collectively to even count normally.
