MIAMI – The Columbus Crew retained the top spot in Concacaf, while fellow MLS side LAFC moved up to fourth, in the latest Concacaf Club Rankings (CCR) update.

The Concacaf Club Rankings Index grades all clubs and leagues across the confederation. Teams gain points for results in official domestic league matches, regional cup matches, and Concacaf Champions Cup play.

Here are the top stories from the recent moves.

Top three remains the same, LAFC moves into top five

Columbus Crew (1,254), runners-up in the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup and champions of the 2024 Leagues Cup, kept its grasp of first place in the CCR. Tigres UANL (1,232), Club America (1,231) remained in second and third respectively to leave the top three as is.

LAFC (1,223) moved up to fourth place after winning the 2024 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. CF Monterrey (1,222) dropped one spot to round out the top five.

Cruz Azul (1,221), Inter Miami CF (1,221), CF Pachuca (1,219), Deportivo Toluca (1,209), and Orlando City SC (1,206) complete the list of ten highest-ranked teams.

Alajuelense claims first place in Central American ranking

Reigning and defending Central American Cup champions LD Alajuelense (1,155) sit in 42nd and are the highest ranked side from Central America. Deportivo Saprissa (1,139) at 48th, CD Olimpia (1,137) at 49th, CS Herediano (1,135) in 50th, and Antigua GFC (1,120) at 52nd overall, complete the top five in the subregion.

Deportivo Árabe Unido (1,047) led the way as the most improved team. The Panamanian club climbed 10 spots in the rankings, more than any other team.

Antigua GFC delivers the biggest upset over Saprissa

Antigua GFC (1,120) delivered the biggest upset in the region with a 3-nil away win against Deportivo Saprissa (1,139) in the quarterfinals of the Central American Cup. After drawing nil-nil in the first leg, Antigua won on the road to win the series on aggregate to advance to the tournament semifinals and qualify for the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup.

The upset was between two sides 14 spots apart in the overall standings. Antigua was previously ranked #55 overall, taking down the 41st place in the CCR.

The 2024 Concacaf Central American Cup semifinals begin on October 22 and conclude on October 31. A top five matchup in Central America awaits as Alajuelense faces Antigua.

Real Hope FA make a big jump in the Caribbean ranking

Following their undefeated starts in the 2024 Concacaf Caribbean Cup, Real Hope FA (1,019) rose up nine spots in the rankings to 115th overall.

Cibao FC (1,062) at 81st and Cavalier FC (1,048) at 87th are the highest-ranked Caribbean clubs.SV Robinhood (1,042) and Mount Pleasant FA (1,040) round out the top five in the Caribbean.

The 2024 Concacaf Caribbean Cup semifinals begin on October 23. Real Hope have a chance to rise higher in the rankings when they take on Cibao FC.
