LAFC has moved quickly to replace the void left by Cristian Olivera's departure to Grêmio by completing a move for Türkiye international Cengiz Ünder.
As previously reported by MLS insider Tom Bogert citing Istanbul-based Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, the 27-year-old winger will arrive on loan at BMO Stadium from Turkish giants Fenerbahçe for the upcoming 2025 MLS season, with the also club maintaining a purchase option.
“Cengiz is a top-quality player with experience at the highest levels of international competition,” said LAFC co-president and general manager John Thorrington.
“He has proven himself in some of the best leagues in the world and his attacking abilities will contribute to our success in 2025.”
Ünder, who has been heavily capped at senior international level across a club career that has featured pit stops at Marseille, Roma, and Leicester City, brings plenty of creativity in what could be molded into an entertaining partnership with star man Denis Bouanga.
A product of Altınordu's youth setup, Ünder has scored 66 goals in 343 total appearances across Europe's top-flight competitions since his debut season in 2014-15.
