LAFC ended their FIFA Club World Cup campaign on a positive note, holding Brazilian giants Flamengo to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday night at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.
Flamengo, already assured of top spot before kick-off, dominated the first half, hitting the woodwork multiple times and pinning LAFC back.
Despite the pressure, it was the MLS side who thought they’d taken the lead, only for Marlon's effort to be ruled out for offside following a set-piece.
After the break, Flamengo continued to threaten - Pedro and Giorgian De Arrascaeta both struck the bar, but it was LAFC who stunned the favourites late on. Denis Bouanga latched onto a quick free-kick and calmly slotted home in the 84th minute.
The lead was short-lived, though. Just two minutes later, Wallace Yan danced through the defence and fired low into the far corner to level the scores, sealing Flamengo’s place in the Last 16 where they will face Bayern Munich.
LAFC, meanwhile, finish bottom of the group with two points and exit the tournament.
