Real Madrid are running away with La Liga a solid three months before the end of the season. Concurrently, they are also running away with a far more important scalp that could define the team’s long-term successes – Kylian Mbappe’s signature.

After a long-drawn soap opera, the French protege officially communicated his desire to leave PSG to the Parisien club earlier this month.

With his contract ending this summer, a move to Real Madrid has never been closer, especially with the players also making his decision very firm.

Almost there

As per the latest update provided by Fabrizio Romano, Mbappe’s move to Real Madrid is only a matter of time. There is no question about his signing for any other club, and one can assume the deal to be close to completed pending official confirmation.

As the two parties work on the final details of the contract, it appears that the player would earn close to €14 million per season in addition to sizeable bonuses. Needless to say, his signing for Real Madrid would also command a significant signing-on bonus.

The disparity, at the moment, appears to be over the distribution of the player’s image rights. After all, Mbappe will serve as Los Blancos’ poster boy for a long time to come. But an agreement on that front appears to be close as well.

Presentation before the Euros?

As revealed earlier this week, Mbappe hopes to be officially presented as a Real Madrid player at the earliest.

His idea is to complete the formal event before the start of Euro 2024 in Germany, so as to retain clarity over his future and link up with the team as soon as possible.

The Euros, however, commenced just two weeks after the UEFA Champions League finale and it remains to be seen if that is a practical target if either Real Madrid or PSG progress all the way.

Nevertheless, it is clear that the Frenchman’s presentation at the earliest is a mutual priority.
