Multiple outlets in the UK and Italy are now reporting that Kyle Walker’s move from Manchester City to Milan is now a done deal. Here is everything you need to know about the agreement, the buy option and when the Englishman is expected to arrive in Milano.

Kyle Walker set for Milan: Everything you need to know

The 34-year-old will join the Rossoneri on an initial loan deal until the end of the 2024-25 season. Milan have managed to convince Man City to let Walker leave on loan for free.

He is still under contract with the Citizens until the summer of 2026, which means that Milan will have to pay a small fee to make his move permanent in the summer. Reports claim that the two clubs have agreed upon a €5m buy option, which will become active in the summer.

If Milan do sign Walker permanently in the summer, there is already an agreement in place for a contract until the summer of 2027, which will earn the England international a reported wage of €4m per season.

Sky Sport Italia and several other outlets report that Walker will arrive in Italy on Thursday and that he will have his medical before the end of the working week.

Milan still have another decision to make before Walker can be registered to their Serie A squad, which is currently full. The fact that Walker is a British citizen is no issue to Milan, but they will still need to remove one of their current first-teamers from their Serie A squad in order for Walker to be involved in league matches.

Milan planning further January transfer moves

The Rossoneri are still plotting moves in the January transfer window, as Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez has reportedly given his approval to a move to San Siro, but the two clubs still need to reach an agreement on a fee.

With Walker’s imminent arrival, Milan are now overloaded at right-back, with Emerson Royal, Davide Calabria and Alessandro Florenzi still on the club’s books.

Reports over the last week claim that the Rossoneri are prepared to cut their losses on Emerson, who only joined from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, but has since been linked with moves to both Fulham and Galatasaray.

Strahinja Pavlovic had also been linked with a move away from San Siro this month, but his rumoured move to Fenerbahce is assumed to be off, with Milan Skriniar on his way over to Istanbul from PSG instead .
