KV Kortrijk pick up Pro League defender following relegation | OneFootball

KV Kortrijk have announced the signing of 30-year-old central defender Gilles Ruyssen on a contract until 2027. The central defender has joined the recently relegated side from Dender, who he had helped win promotion to the Pro League during the 2023/2024 season. The side have included an option for a further year in the defenders contract. Ruyssen was a free agent with his contract at Dender having expired this summer.

Last season, Ruyssen made 39 appearances for Dender across all competitions. He was a regular for the side and should be a solid addition to Kortrijk’s squad as they look to return to the top flight at the first time of asking. Prior to joining Dender in January 2023, Ruyssen played for RWDM, Westerlo and Lommel. He made most of his appearances for RWDM between 2018 and his departure in 2023, with nine goals in 113 appearances for the side. The defender has spent the majority of his career in the Belgian second tier.
