Juraj Kucka represented AC Milan more than sixty times across two seasons, but he is seeing the game against his former club as a ‘Christmas present’.
Tuesday’s game is a must-win for Milan. In the Champions League so far, they have got themselves into a good place heading into the final four fixtures, but the job is nowhere near done and after this weekend’s result, there must be more shown.
A 0-0 against Juventus normally would not be considered a terrible result, perhaps in this instance, it is not either. However, the season so far means that the luxury is not afforded to the Rossoneri. Instead, it was a chance missed to start catching the runaways, and the Diavolo did not take it.
For this reason, the Champions League must give the fans a reason to keep faith this season, and this goes for Paulo Fonseca and the rest of the squad. However, it will not be a simple task and the former Rossonero Kucka, spoke about his hopes for the game in his press conference, as cited by Milan News.
For you, tomorrow’s game is a Christmas present…. How are you feeling?
“I feel good, I’ve been training regularly for more than a week and I played a half on Saturday. I’m looking forward to the game, as is the rest of the team. I hope it’s a good game for us and maybe we can steal at least a point from Milan.”
Do you still hear from anyone at AC Milan?
“There’s only one who’s left, one of the warehousemen, but I’m not in contact with him.”
What do you think of Milan today?
“It’s very difficult to assess what kind of team they are, the results are what they are. Sometimes they play well, other times they play badly. We will have to be very careful. It won’t be an easy game, but we will fight until the end.”
Which Milan do you expect?
“I hope for an AC Milan that suffers a little, as usually happens against teams that are a little weaker.”
Who would you like to play with of the current Milan players?
“It’s difficult to choose one. In the forwards they have a lot of quality. I really like the way Pulisic plays, Leao is also very strong. When I was at Parma I thought Leao wouldn’t get far. Instead he has changed something in himself and now he has become a great player.
“I used to see him walking on the pitch, he seemed to have no desire to play. Now he has changed and become an international player. The only one I’ve played with who is still at AC Milan is Calabria.”
You cheered when Milan came out….
“Not many words are needed for that exultation: I was too happy. I am an AC Milan fan, I am linked to Milan. Playing against them, here, in the Champions League, is something special.”
What memories do you have of Milan? “I always tried to give my best, then you don’t succeed in every game to win. But for commitment I gave everything and the fans liked that. I fought for the jersey. The best moment was the Super Cup victory against Juve. I’ve bonded a lot with Luca Antonelli, but there are many people I’m close to.”
