Teun Koopmeiners insists he’s ‘not worried’ about Juventus’ inconsistent results and his lack of goals: ‘I play differently than at Atalanta, but it’s normal.’

Juventus midfielder Koopmeiners was included in the Serie A team of the year for 2023-24 after an impressive campaign with Atalanta.

He left Bergamo last summer to join Juventus but hasn’t yet scored in 14 appearances across all competitions with the Old Lady.

Juventus are also experiencing highs and lows under new coach Thiago Motta. Despite being still unbeaten in the league, the Bianconeri have collected eight draws in 14 matches pushing them six points below leaders Napoli.

“Surely, there are things we want to improve. We’ve drawn many games but haven’t lost because we are solid, and this is important,” Koopmeiners told Sky Sport Italia.

“We are Juventus, and we always want to attack. We want to score more goals, including myself. It’s important if we do it as a team.”

“There are things we learned in the first games and done well. We are on the right path, and this is important. We want to get three points [in every game], and that’s why we play. I am confident good moments will come.”

Koopmeiners scored 15 goals and provided seven assists in 51 appearances for Atalanta last season before completing a €60m transfer to the Allianz Stadium.

“I want to do well for this club and the fans. As I said in the summer, it’s a dream for me to be here,” the midfielder insisted.

“It’s a different way, but it’s normal because it’s a different club and a different team. We’ve had many new players, not only myself, but I think eight or nine more. We must grow as a group and as a club. As I said, we are on the right path. I play differently than at Atalanta, but it’s normal. I am not worried, and I trust my abilities and the team.”

His former Atalanta side are just one point below Napoli, so can they compete for the Scudetto this term?

“It’s tough to say because it’s a tough league,” argued Koopmeiners.

“There are five or six teams within three points. I’m not in their dressing room, but they have strong footballers. I know their players, but now I am only looking at our team because I am a Juventus player. I understand the question, but I only look at my team, Juventus.”

Juventus host Bologna at the Allianz Stadium on Saturday, December 7, in their next Serie A match.
