Kobamelo Kodisang's brief stint with Mamelodi Sundowns appears to be nearing its conclusion as the South African international eyes a European comeback.

The talented winger arrived at Chloorkop with much fanfare at the beginning of the 2024/25 campaign, signing a multi-year deal after departing Portuguese club Moreirense FC. However, despite his pedigree, Kodisang found regular starting opportunities hard to come by under the Brazilians' stacked attacking options.

His time in Portugal had highlighted his potential—particularly during the 2022/23 season, where his 11-goal contribution in 29 league outings turned heads. Even in his final season abroad, Kodisang remained influential, helping Moreirense secure a respectable sixth-place finish in the Primeira Liga with a goal and three assists across 31 matches.

Now, as Sundowns reshuffle their squad, the 24-year-old looks set for a fresh challenge back on European soil, where his direct dribbling and eye for goal could earn him a more prominent role.

A new Kodisang experience is on the horizon

Kodisang's exclusion from Sundowns' FIFA Club World Cup squad signaled his fading role under manager Miguel Cardoso, paving the way for his European return.

FARPost sources reveal the winger will complete a season-long loan to an undisclosed Primeira Liga club, continuing South Africa's pipeline to Portuguese football. He joins an exodus of Sundowns departures including Maboe, Coetzee and Mbule as the champions streamline their squad.

The move offers Kodisang a chance to rediscover the form that once made him a standout in Portugal, while Sundowns prepare further roster changes ahead of the new campaign.
