According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona’s summer signing Dani Olmo has adjusted exceptionally well to the team, largely due to the strong connections he has with his teammates.

Having spent time with players like Pedri and Lamine Yamal on the Spanish national team, Olmo feels a strong sense of familiarity and comfort.

Additionally, he had previously crossed paths with Robert Lewandowski during their time in the Bundesliga, which has further smoothed his transition.

On top of it, his relationship with Raphinha, too, has been key; they share a great bond both on and off the pitch, which has been a pleasant surprise for Olmo.

A perfect fit for Flick

Olmo, who was a priority for Barcelona’s sporting director Deco this summer, is delighted to be back at the club he considers home, and his performances show it.

Hansi Flick’s tactical setup has also been instrumental in helping him thrive. The Spaniard primarily plays as an attacking midfielder in Flick’s 4-2-3-1 formation, which occasionally transitions into a 4-1-4-1 setup when Pedri pushes forward.

This position allows Olmo to contribute in multiple ways, including surprising defences by making late runs into the box, offering himself as a passing option for midfielders, and linking up effectively with both wingers and the main striker.

Statistically speaking

One of the most notable aspects of Olmo’s game this season has been his statistics. In La Liga, he has already netted five goals, matching his highest Bundesliga tally of five goals with RB Leipzig during the 2020-21 season.

But it is not just his goal-scoring that stands out; Olmo’s dribbling skills have been a real asset.

He is currently the second-best dribbler on the team, with an average of 2.67 successful dribbles per game, trailing only his young teammate Lamine Yamal, who averages 3.12.

In comparison, even players like Kylian Mbappe and Vinícius Jr. are slightly behind him, averaging 2.64 and 2.57 dribbles per game, respectively.
