La Liga giants Real Madrid have tied a leading member of the club’s defensive ranks down to a new contract.
That’s according to Marca, who point towards Ferland Mendy as the player in question.
The subject of left-back Mendy’s future had long proven a central talking point in the Spanish capital, ahead of the expiration of his terms in the summer of 2025.
Amid long-standing links with Bayern Munich standout Alphonso Davies, it had in turn been suggested that the France international could be sacrificed to make room.
This, however, will not prove to be the case.
At the request of head coach Carlo Ancelotti, Mendy has seen his Real Madrid deal renewed, for the coming three seasons.
As per a report from the aforementioned Marca:
‘Ferland Mendy and Real Madrid have reached an agreement for the renewal of the full-back’s contract, which ended on June 30, 2025 and is now extended for two more seasons.’
An official announcement regarding the news is expected to arrive over the next couple of days.
