Kaizer Chiefs change their mind about their midfielder
One of Kaizer Chiefs' top players was expected to leave the team in the near future but a change in management mindset has given him new life with the team.
Press reports indicate that the management has decided to backtrack on the decision to let one of their players go to be part of next season's plans with coach Nasreddine Nabi. Sabelo Radebe, Ranga Chivaviro, Njabulo Blom, Edmilson Dove and Mduduzi Mdantsane are the names that Amakhosi is releasing as part of his restructuring of the team for next season, according to The South African.
In a surprising twist, Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly reversed their decision to release George Matlou, offering the midfielder a short-term contract extension instead.
The 26-year-old, who joined Amakhosi in 2022, has struggled to cement a regular starting role, making just 40 appearances in two seasons. However, his recent performances under new coach Nasreddine Nabi—including two assists in 15 games—appear to have convinced management to give him another chance.
While Matlou's undeniable talent has often shone in flashes, consistency has been his biggest hurdle. With Nabi now at the helm, could this be the fresh start the player needs?
