Juventus remain in the hunt for Jadon Sancho are scheduled to hold talks with the player and Manchester United imminently, according to a report from Italy.
Sancho, 25, will return to Old Trafford this month after Chelsea chose to pay a £5 million penalty fee to annul the obligation to buy clause in his loan to Stamford Bridge.
Sancho could not agree personal terms with the Blues, despite willingness from parties to complete a move, underscoring the winger’s priorities this summer lie in his wallet rather than on the pitch.
United are desperate to avoid another loan deal as Sancho’s contract in Manchester only has twelve months remaining, though the Reds retains the option to extend this by a year.
There is zero desire from player of club to extend the unhappy marriage, however, with United actively pushing to agree a permanent exit for the Englishman.
A (second) return to Borussia Dortmund was explored as a potential option but the finances are too costly for the German club.
There were reports other sides in the Premier League were interested in a deal. Similarly, Turkish rivals Fenerbahce and Galatasaray have made advances, while the distant call of the Saudi Pro League lurks in the background.
But there is also significant interest from Italy with rivals Juventus and Napoli locking horns over the prospect of a cheap deal for a player whose primary weakness in the Premier League lay with physicality, rather than technicality.
Sancho previously thrived in the Bundesliga – a fast-paced league but one where attackers are afford huge amounts of space. Serie A is much slower and tactical, with less room to operate, but imports from the Premier League have invariably performed well – Scott McTominay says hello – due to the drop in physicality.
League champions Napoli are interested in signing Sancho with the 25-year-old reported to be open to a switch to the Diego Armanda Maradona Stadium.
But, Italian football expert Gianluca Di Marzio reveals, Juventus are “continu[ing] to negotiate” with Old Trafford officials over a move. “Talks are also scheduled” between the Oldy Lady and Sancho’s representatives, Di Marzio states.
Juventus wanted to sign Sancho last summer before the winger eventually agreed a deadline day switch to Chelsea. And the Turin side appear set on striking a deal they came close to making twelve months ago after holding a video call with United yesterday to discuss the transfer.
