Juventus are poised to finalize the permanent signing of Francisco Conceição from Porto, with the deal now hinging on a decisive administrative step, according to reports from Tutto Juve and Bianconera News.
The operation has reached its critical stage: Porto have set a firm deadline for Conceição to formally renounce his entitlement to 20% of his transfer fee. Juventus have agreed a package worth around €32 million, to be spread over four annual instalments, comfortably matching Porto’s price expectations but using a formula distinct from simply paying out the full release clause. The transfer is further complicated by the previous loan arrangement, with Juventus having already paid €7 million for the initial loan and an additional €3 million in bonuses tied to Champions League qualification. As a result, the total expenditure for the Bianconeri could ultimately climb above the base figure for the transfer.
Porto’s urgency is clear: the club has insisted that Conceição’s written waiver must arrive by the end of the day. If the document is not delivered, the Portuguese side have warned they will consider the deal with Juventus void, despite both parties having reached agreement on all other terms. This administrative hurdle effectively serves as an ultimatum, one that suits neither club were it to break down, especially since Conceição is not in Porto’s plans and few other European clubs could now step in at similar price levels.
The transfer has not been without intrigue behind the scenes. Fabrizio Romano, as cited by Tutto Juve and Bianconera News, revealed that had Cristiano Giuntoli remained at the helm of Juventus’ sporting department, Conceição would likely not have been retained following his initial season in Turin. “If Giuntoli had stayed, the solution to keep Conceição would not have been pursued. The new management chose to proceed and Conceição has shown real commitment to Juventus, staying resolute even as the club weathered a tumultuous campaign,” Romano reported.
From the Juventus perspective, the confirmation of Conceição’s arrival has been widely welcomed. Francesco Oppini, posting on his X profile and reported by Bianconera News, called the winger indispensable, stating, “The first player who absolutely needed to be retained has been retained—Francisco Conceição is definitively a Juventus player, with agreement reached for €30 million payable over four years.”
For Conceição, the move represents both continuity and ambition. Sources indicate he prioritised a return to Turin after feeling unfinished business during his first spell, demonstrating a clear preference for Juventus despite the drawn-out negotiations.
In summary, the fate of Conceição’s transfer stands on the brink, awaiting a final signature. All other obstacles appear resolved, with personal commitment from player and club now matched by the financial agreement—pending only that crucial administrative sign-off between Porto and the Portuguese international.
