Juventus defender Gleison Bremer discusses his path to recovery from a cruciate knee ligament injury, revealing that he couldn’t even get out of bed without his wife’s help in the first month.
In a video posted on his official Instagram account, the Brazilian centre-back explained how he is working towards his return to action.
“The beginning was really tough because I am a very independent person and I don’t like relying on others,” he said.
Bremer sustained a cruciate ligament injury in October, during a Champions League match against RB Leipzig.
“Right after the surgery, I needed my wife for everything, even to help me get out of bed, and that was incredibly hard for me,” he continued.
“I spent the first month in bed, on antibiotics, doing a few exercises just to avoid losing muscle mass, with support from those around me.
“The first month was difficult because I couldn’t even put my foot on the ground; those were challenging months,” Bremer added.

“Then I started to improve, I gradually got off the crutches, and I was able to return to normal life, more than anything. I just wanted to be independent again. I’m doing well so far; my mind is in the right place. I’m focused and resilient. I am working hard because I want to come back in the best possible shape.”
Bremer had recently shared a positive update on his social media and confirmed his improvements in his latest interview.
“I train for about five hours per day. In the evening, I apply some ice. I miss running, especially on the pitch,” he continued.
“I’ve become a better person and a better athlete. Even from the negative side of this injury, I’ve found some positives.”
Bremer, 28, has only made eight appearances across all competitions this season. Recent reports in Italy suggested that Juventus hope the Brazilian will be fit enough to return to action during the 2025 Club World Cup.
Bremer joined Juventus in a €47m deal from Old Lady’s city rivals Torino in June 2022 and has won one Coppa Italia with the Bianconeri. His contract at the Allianz Stadium runs out in June 2029.
