Even though it has not yet been officially announced, Marcus Rashford will play for FC Barcelona this season on loan from Manchester United.

The 27-year-old joins on a season-long loan deal with a purchase option worth €30 million included in the agreement.

Rashford to wear No. 14

With fans awaiting the announcement eagerly, they are also curious to find out the shirt number that Rashford will don at Barcelona.

Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, the club and the player have already chosen the number he will wear: the number 14.

It is a shirt with deep significance in football history – famously worn by Johan Cruyff at Ajax and with the Dutch national team, and also by Rashford’s idol, Thierry Henry.

Having spent nearly his entire career at Manchester United, with only a brief loan spell at Aston Villa, Rashford has worn three different numbers at Old Trafford, including 14.

He had it during a stage of his development at United, inspired by Henry, who gave the number prestige at Arsenal, before donning the same number at Barcelona.

Rashford has also worn 19 and 10 during his time with the Red Devils. As such, there was speculation that he might take up #19, which became available after Lamine Yamal took the #10 shirt.

But Rashford is now set to take the number 14, which became available at Barcelona this week following the departure of Pablo Torre, who was sold to Mallorca.

Apart from Henry, the #14 has also been worn by other Barcelona legends like Ronald Koeman and Javier Mascherano in the past.
