Just as reports emerged claiming that Barcelona teenager Pau Prim could be on his way out of the club as early as this month, there appears to be a significant development in the story.

Indeed, according to Fabrizio Romano, the 18-year-old La Masia midfielder is all set to join Al Sadd in Qatar, with a verbal agreement over his transfer being reached already.

Prim was a regular starter for Albert Sanchez’s Barça Atletic side this season but was frozen out of the squad in recent weeks due to his reluctance to sign a new contract.

With his current deal expiring in the summer, it was almost taken for granted that Prim would leave the club when the contract ran out.

However, the youngster now appears to be headed for the exit doors as early as this month, with a move to Qatar now set to be completed.

More details of the transfer are awaited but the potential income from Prim’s sale, coupled with the €5 million that the Catalans are set to receive from Unai Hernandez’s imminent move to Al-Ittihad will be a much-needed financial boost for Barcelona.

As for Prim, he was always held in the highest of regard at the club but concerns about a pathway into the first-team setup have seemingly made him opt to move on from the club, with Al Sadd set to be his new destination.
