Barcelona will lock horns with Valencia later tonight at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, aiming to get back to winning ways in La Liga.
However, they may have to go into the game without their superstar midfielder Pedri as Mundo Deportivo reports that the midfielder has fallen ill.
The Spanish international, who had been in excellent form, shone brightly in the recent UEFA Champions League match vs. Benfica, playing a key role in leading Barcelona’s comeback win.
Flick has opted not to rotate Pedri in matches as the coaching staff believes that continuity is crucial for him to maintain his fitness levels.
However, the illness, which includes symptoms such as diarrhoea and vomiting, has all but ruled him out of tonight’s match.

Carlos Monfort of Jijantes FC further adds that Pedri went to the Ciutat Esportiva today to undergo tests and left the facilities after half an hour. He did not take the team bus headed for the hotel.
This comes as a huge blow for Barcelona, who are already ten points behind league leaders Real Madrid.
The Blaugrana are already without playmaker Dani Olmo, who is out with an injury, and with Pedri also now expected to miss, it will be interesting to see how Flick sets his team up against Los Che.
Frenkie de Jong appears to be in a strong position to start alongside Marc Casado against Valencia tonight after a good cameo against Benfica.
The manager also has players like Gavi, Fermin Lopez, and Pablo Torre as options and can manoeuvre the midfield unit the way he sees fit in the absence of Pedri.
