Aaron Anselmino will remain at Boca Juniors until June 2025 despite Chelsea having the option to recall him in January according to reports.
The Blues paid Boca in the region of £15.5m for the 19-year-old centre back, who can also play in midfield and is regarded as an option for the future.
The Argentine will be the third South American teenager arriving at Stamford Bridge next summer, alongside Estevao Willian and Kendry Paez.
Anselmino came through the ranks at Boca and has made 20 appearances for the first team to date, scoring twice and providing two assists.
Upon signing for Chelsea the defender spoke of his admiration for current Chelsea star and fellow countryman Enzo Fernandez.
Quite what the long term plan for Anselmino is remains to be seen, but it was confirmed in the summer he would return to Boca on loan until at least January.

However, according to journalist Uriel Iugt the centre back will remain in Argentina until 2025, with a decision being agreed in the last few days.
He took to X.com and said:
“Aaron Anselmino will remain in Boca until June 2025. In the last few days, his permanence was finally agreed upon. Chelsea had the option of bringing him back.”
It makes sense for Anselmino to continue playing regularly to help his development and Chelsea will no doubt be keeping a close eye on him.

You would expect him to go on loan perhaps in Europe when he arrives next summer given the amount of centre backs Chelsea have, and the Blues have recently been linked with a move for Benfica’s Tomas Araujo.
The Blues have made a number of mistakes defensively this season and have looked vulnerable at the back, with Enzo Maresca hoping that won’t cost his side against Manchester United on Sunday as they look for a first win at Old Trafford since 2013.
