Sky Germany’s Kerry Hau reports that the Bayern Munich higher-ups have told Swedish forward Jonah Kusi-Asare that he is firmly in the club’s plans for the coming season as a back-up option to Harry Kane. Hau also notes that Bayern are keen to extend the 18-year-olds contract, which expires next summer.
It had been thought that if the record champions secured sought-after striker Nick Woltemade, Kusi-Asare would be sent out on loan for the season. Max Eberl and Co. have now told the 18-year-old to reject any forthcoming loan offers. Bayern haven’t yet given up on signing Woltemade, but it now appears increasingly unlikely that a deal can be completed before the transfer window closes on September 1.
Kusi-Asare signed for Bayern from 12-time Swedish champions AIK in February 2024. The Swede made 12 appearances, scoring two goals for Bayern II in the Regionalliga. He also made one appearance in the Bundesliga, coming off the bench in a 3-0 home win over Mainz.
