Chelsea have announced Johanna Rytting Kaneryd has signed a contract extension with the club until the summer of 2027.
Rytting Kaneryd joined Chelsea from BK Hacken in August 2022 and has enjoyed a successful three years with the Blues, winning the Women’s Super League in every season, as well as two FA Cups and a League Cup.
The 28-year-old Sweden international has made 104 appearances for the west Londoners since arriving at the club. Speaking upon signing her new deal, Rytting Kaneryd says there is more to come from her as she extends her stay in west London for another two years.
“It feels amazing to have signed a new contract with Chelsea,” Rytting Kaneryd said. “I am delighted to extend my time here because I really do love this place. Since the first day I stepped into this club, it has felt like home.
“It is my first time living away from Sweden and this really does feel like home. I love going to work every day and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to be. I am someone who is always striving to improve and I know there is much more to come from me in the future.”
This season the Swede played in 21 of Chelsea’s 22 WSL games, scoring five league goals as Sonia Bompastor’s side completed an unbeaten domestic campaign. In December she received the Diamond Ball, given to Sweden’s best female footballer during the previous year.
Paul Green, Chelsea’s head of women’s football, said: “Johanna has played an important part in our success since joining the club ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
“She has been among our highest appearance makers in the previous two seasons. We are looking forward to seeing Johanna continue to progress with us in the forthcoming years.”
Rytting Kaneryd follows in the footsteps of teammates Erin Cuthbert, Millie Bright and Kadeisha Buchanan in extending their contracts at the club since the turn of the year.
