A recent poll has shown an overwhelming 90 percent of Rangers fans would welcome Joe Aribo back to Ibrox with open arms. The Nigerian international left for Southampton in 2022 but has struggled to make a consistent impact at St Mary’s and the loyal Rangers support clearly believe a return to Glasgow would reignite his career and benefit the team massively.
Aribo was a key part of the side under Steven Gerrard and Giovanni van Bronckhorst. His technical skill work rate and versatility made him a firm favourite among fans. Whether deployed in midfield or as part of the front three he always gave his all and often produced in the big moments. His goal in the Europa League final against Frankfurt stands out as a major highlight and cemented his name in Rangers history despite the eventual penalty heartbreak.
The idea of bringing Aribo back has gathered real momentum not only among supporters but reportedly within sections of the club hierarchy too – the Russell Martin angle is of course key here. Given the lack of creativity and attacking threat shown by Rangers in recent seasons his return would be seen as a genuine boost. It is clear fans are desperate for quality and familiarity and Aribo fits both categories perfectly.
The fans have not forgotten his contribution nor have they overlooked the value he could add now. His time in the Premier League may not have exploded into glory but the experience he gained at that level could prove vital in a squad that has lacked consistency. With 90 percent backing his return the supporters are sending a strong message to the board.
In fact when rumours first emerged about Aribo being available on loan fans lit up social media begging the club to act. His name has never truly disappeared from the Ibrox conversation and with Southampton being relegated the timing may be perfect.
There have even been claims of dressing room support for the idea. According to a past article the squad still holds him in high regard. If Rangers were to make the move it would likely be seen as a popular one inside and outside the club.
For now there is no official movement but this authoritative source suggests Aribo’s future is far from settled. Rangers fans though have spoken and the message could not be louder. Bring him home.
