It’s not often that a player from a rival club openly advocates for a teammate to join one of the Premier League’s Big Six, let alone Liverpool. But such is the admiration for the Anfield project under Arne Slot that even Brighton’s dressing room is speaking in favour of a potential move.
In an exclusive interview with Trivela, Brighton defender Igor Julio offered striking honesty about his belief in Liverpool’s appeal: “I told him that he has to think about what’s best for his career. In my opinion, if I were going to a Big Six team, I would go to a team that fights for the Premier League, competes for the Champions League and is always up for the win. I would go to Liverpool and I think he would fit perfectly in Liverpool.”
It’s a quote that underlines just how Liverpool are currently perceived, not only as a club with a storied past but as one with an ambitious and highly attractive future.

Pedro, 23, enjoyed a strong campaign at Brighton, displaying the pace, movement, and finishing ability that has drawn attention from several top clubs. Brighton are believed to be preparing for his departure, fully aware that interest is building from clubs both domestically and abroad.
While it’s understood, as Trivela states, that “the 23-year-old is keen on living in London,” the appeal of Liverpool’s sporting project may yet prove decisive. With Florian Wirtz poised to operate behind the striker and Mohamed Salah extending his stay, the chance to join one of England’s most technically balanced attacks is difficult to ignore.
Pedro is under no pressure to rush a decision. But Liverpool have reason to remain confident that their offer, both in terms of footballing culture and tactical fit, could still win him over.
Liverpool’s resurgence since last season’s title win is not purely sentimental. The retention of Salah and Van Dijk was significant, but the ambition doesn’t stop there. Wirtz’s arrival signals a generational shift, one focused on fluidity, youth and precision.

Joao Pedro, with his versatility and intelligent movement, would suit Slot’s approach. He can play through the middle or drift wide, linking with Wirtz and providing depth beyond Darwin Núñez and Cody Gakpo. At just 23, he also fits the mould of a player Liverpool can develop into a world-class asset.
Until Pedro signs elsewhere, Liverpool have every right to believe they’re still firmly in the race. A London lifestyle may have superficial appeal, but it’s silverware and footballing ambition that shape legacies. For a player looking to elevate his career, few environments are as demanding, and rewarding, as Anfield.
This is exactly the kind of transfer link that gets pulses racing. Joao Pedro has shown real growth since leaving Watford. At Brighton, he’s added a more polished edge to his game, and it’s easy to see how he’d thrive playing off someone like Wirtz or feeding off Salah’s movement.
There’s also a sense that this isn’t just hype, players in his own dressing room are pointing him towards Merseyside. That tells you a lot about how the footballing world views Liverpool right now. It’s not just about trophies; it’s about being part of a team that plays with clarity and identity.
While the reports of him favouring London are disappointing, that’s not uncommon in the early stages of summer negotiations. Players change preferences. Contracts change minds. And Liverpool have a knack for turning interest into action, quietly and efficiently.
If Arne Slot and the recruitment team see Pedro as a fit, then fans should be optimistic. He’s young, Premier League-proven, and tactically flexible. Whether or not this deal happens, it’s clear Liverpool are still considered one of the most exciting destinations in Europe.
