There are only five opportunities left to see Jamie Vardy with Leicester. After 13 years, the striker will be moving on. He's not finished playing, as he will find a new club shortly. For over a decade, however, he roamed King Power Stadium and commanded the love and adoration of City fans.
Starting Saturday against Wolves, there will only be a few more times in the closing stages of a season that has resulted in relegation for LCFC. This gives the Foxes faithful a chance to say goodbye to Vardy. These weeks will give a chance for spectators to show their ending support. It's not often that spectators know the exact number of times that a club legend will be on the pitch for.
The timing of the announcement may come at something of an unusual moment. It does, however, allow for this somewhat rare opportunity to be experienced. It's doubtful that the attacker will ever give the precise reasons as to why he elected to leave when he did. Had City been able to remain in the Premier League, he would have had a stronger reason to stick around.
Even if relegation had happened anyway, the way in which the season collapsed added to him pushing toward leaving after over a decade with the Foxes. The drain of being on a side that doesn't have much room for hope was likely too much at this point in his career.
Now the main goal is to give him as close to a proper send-off as possible. Those on the squad need to use their remaining efforts to help give a good showing of LCFC in Vardy's remaining fixtures. Wanting to play for someone about to leave, who has meant so much for Leicester, will need to drive the players as they face their next EPL opponents.
As is, those under Ruud van Nistelrooy, including the manager himself, are looking to demonstrate what they are capable of. Whether it's for City or someone else, they are aiming for consideration for the 2025-2026 campaign. For those who stick around, they'll want to have a large role in the upcoming Championship season.
Others who will be moved on are looking to make a case for their next potential team. It's safe to say that many who played for the club didn't have good matches that will inspire confidence for those looking to potentially make upgrades throughout their roster.
Luckily, the final impression can often be the strongest. Good performances against Wolves or Nottingham Forest, for example, could end up earning someone a better contract or their preferred destination beyond Leicester.
