AC Milan are at risk of losing one of their brightest young talents in Mattia Liberali, with clubs beginning to express interest.

Liberali has had a real rollercoaster of a season, starting with getting minutes as a first teamer out in the United States on the preseason tour. He was then allocated to Milan Futuro, before making his full Milan debut in December, but has played more for the Primavera since.

With his contract set to expire in just over 12 months, Milan will have to show the player and his entourage that they have a solid project to aid his development. However, there has been no positive news regarding a renewal, leading to suggestions Liberali is actually more likely to leave.

Liberali: More worrying news

According to the latest from journalist Alessandro Jacobone, interest is gathering for the 18-year-old. Two Premier League teams, one Spanish team and two Italian teams are watching matters closely and are keen on signing him.

If Milan do not want to lose him then ‘they must do more, and do it soon’ as per Jacobone. Thus, the pressure is on the club to show that they have the right path in mind for his future. In an interview with Milan TV published yesterday, Liberali spoke abut his development.

“It has certainly been a hectic season, but I have achieved some dreams that I had and hopefully it can end well. I want to help the team to reach the playoffs, which we deserve and we are working to reach them all together, so it will be very important for everyone to help and stay united,” he said.

“My debut? It was a dream I had since I was a child, as soon as I first stepped onto the pitch at Vismara. At first I didn’t fully realise it, it was inexplicable in words.

“I thank everyone who was close to me in the pre-match, for example Florenzi helped me a lot, but in general all my teammates and the staff, Fonseca first and foremost, who made me feel at ease with the team and helped me a lot.”
