The 37-year-old spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, ahead of today’s round of sixteen match against Fluminense.

Inter Milan are in the round of sixteen of the Club World Cup. The Nerazzurri take on Fluminense this evening in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Inter booked their place in the knockout rounds of the Club World Cup with a draw against Monterrey followed by wins over Urawa Red Diamonds and River Plate in the group stage.

Now, the Nerazzurri will feel that there is a big opportunity ahead of them.

If Inter can go far at this tournament – or even win the whole thing – then they would have the chance to really put the disappointment of the Champions League final and the end of last season behind them.

Inter Milan defender Francesco Acerbi declared that “we’re growing.”

“Then, coming to the USA and playing at the Club World Cup is always tough,” he continued.

“It’s very hot. But if it’s hot for us, it’s hot for them as well.”

Acerbi declared that “it depends on the motivation you have to try and go through to the next round.”

As far as playing in the knockouts, Acerbi said that “we know how to play certain matches.”

“We know what we want to do,” added the former Lazio and Sassuolo defender.

“We’re under mental pressure,” the veteran defender admitted. “But we always want to give our best, and something more than what we have, to go all the way.”
