Federico Dimarco believes that Inter Milan “sent a message” to the rest of Serie A with their victory over Roma.

The Italian international spoke to RAI Sport, via FCInterNews, after the Nerazzurri’s 1-0 victory over the Giallorossi.

Inter made it three wins in a row in Serie A either side of the international break by beating Roma.

The Nerazzurri had to do it the hard way. They scored just one goal, courtesy of captain Lautaro Martinez in the second half.

Moreover, early injuries to the likes of Hakan Calhanoglu and Francesco Acerbi made Inter’s task a whole lot more difficult.

But in the end, what mattered was that Inter took the three points back to Milan.

The Nerazzurri responded to victories earlier in the weekend by their main title rivals. AC Milan, Juventus, and Napoli all won against Udinese, Lazio, and Empoli respectively.

Federico Dimarco: “Inter Sent A Message To Serie A” By Beating Roma

The first few weeks of the season have made it clear that Inter are not going to be able to brush off all their rivals as easily as they did last season in Serie A.

However, the Nerazzurri have now made one thing equally clear to the other top sides in the division. They are not going to relinquish their title easily.

After yesterday’s match, Inter wingback Dimarco said that “We know how the derby went, and I don’t even want to talk about it again.”

Defeat against AC Milan last month was the biggest setback for Inter so far this season.

“We bounced back, and now we’ve gotten four wins in a row,” Dimarco said.

As far as Napoli, currently top of the table and looking like formidable title rivals, Dimarco said that “We know they’re strong.”

“Last season they didn’t have a great season maybe. But they have great player, and they’ve made big signings.”

“It’s not just them,” Dimarco added. “There’s also Juve and Milan.”

“It will be a difficult title race,” the Italy international anticipated.

Yesterday, Dimarco noted, “Two substitutions in the first half didn’t help us get off to the right start.”

“But we sent a message to the rest of the league. Because this was a vital win on a tough away ground, against a great team.”
