Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli called his teammate Riccardo Calafiori a ‘crack’ player, showing his appreciation for the Italian’s impact at the Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta’s side extended their unbeaten start to the Premier League season by beating Leicester 4-2 at home in a lively game that saw the visitors come back from 2-0 in the space of 15 minutes, before the Gunners restored a double advantage in injury time.

Former Bologna defender Calafiori started his second consecutive league game, proving his growing importance to his manager.

Martinelli calls Calafiori a ‘crack’ after Leicester win

After scoring in Arsenal’s 2-2 draw against Manchester City last week, the Italy international was included in the starting line-up again, helping his side pick up their fourth Premier League win from six matches, which kept them one point behind leaders Liverpool.

Calafiori was Arsenal’s most expensive signing last summer and Arteta is gradually integrating him into the starting XI, but his displays so far seem to have already won his teammate Gabriel Martinelli over.

The Italy international celebrated the Gunners’ win against Leicester with an Instagram post accompanied by a caption which read: “Never give up, great job guys!”

Martinelli responded with a comment in appreciation of Calafiori, written in Italian: “Crack brother.”

‘Crack’ is a term used in Italian and Spanish to describe a top player.
