A pundit has offered one Chelsea star a huge compliment after the latest round of international matches played on Monday night.
Thomas Tuchel’s England were in action and of course, we already have the Chelsea connection there with our former head coach who won the Champions League at the club.
Tuchel was looking for his second win in a row as England manager as the Three Lions faced up to Latvia in the World Cup qualifiers.
It was a very comfortable 3-0 home win for Tuchel’s England who provided the fans with some decent entertainment last night.
But the first goal took some time to come, and it ended up coming through another Chelsea connection, a free kick from Blues captain Reece James. It was a beautiful free kick that was whipped around the wall and into the corner.
James didn’t celebrate the goal and he has revealed why after the game in some comments picked up.
Reece James fires one over the wall for England.
Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane was on the commentary for the game, and he compared the free kick to how David Beckham used to take them, and you can see why.
In words picked up by The Independent, Keane said: “It reminds me of what David Beckham used to do, it’s very difficult to do.”
James also went on to get named Player of the Match for this game and it was fully deserved in his first England appearance for two and a half years at the age of 25.
James will be hoping he can stay fit now for a sustained period for club and for country as both teams enter some crucial games and moments.
James feels like he could really step up and mature now if he can just stay fit.
