Chelsea full back Marc Cucurella has explained the beautiful meaning behind his penguin celebration, and it’s not what many people thought.
The Spanish international is scoring many more goals for Chelsea this season, and he got one against Southampton in their last game.
The Blues won the game 4-0 in what was a much needed convincing performance, with goals coming from Christopher Nkunku, Pedro Neto, Levi Colwill, and Marc Cucurella.
The Saints were a very poor opposition of course, but Chelsea really needed a big win and a big performance, and that is exactly what they did last night right in the nick of time as they look to keep challenging for that all important Champions League spot.
Neto was superb playing as the number 9 and as well as getting his goal, he has explained why he loves playing as a striker with a hilarious answer!
Cucurella has gone on to speak about his celebration in the pre-match press conference for Chelsea’s game against Copenhagen in the Conference League tonight.

It turns out that his celebration is a lovely tribute to his family.
He says:
“The celebration, a lot of people think it’s because of this (slipping against Spurs). It’s because I saw in the internet that penguins choose one partner and family for their life. I want to remember my family. They always support me in my best and worst moments so the celebration is for them.”
And on scoring more goals this season:
“This season I’ve scored goals. Hopefully I can score more. The manager said that sometimes it’s about being in good positions and the ball arrives. I understand what the manager demands to me. I proved that I can score a lot of goals.”
