Ipswich Town sign former Sunderland midfielder Dear | OneFootball

Ipswich Town have completed the signing of former Sunderland midfielder Jenna Dear on a free transfer.

The Tractor Girls announced news of the deal via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

The 29-year-old joins Ipswich Town after leaving former club Sunderland last month. Dear spent two seasons with The Lady Black Cats in which she was a regular in the side. The player was a member of the Sunderland team that pushed hard for promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League in 2023/2024.

Dear started her senior career on the books of Chelsea. She had a loan spell with Watford before later going on to represent Everton and Sheffield FC. The midfielder then moved abroad to play for Norwegian side Vålerenga before enjoying spells in the French game with FC Fleury 91 and Dijon FCO. She returned to England in summer 2023.

Dear is a seasoned campaigner and she will add value to an evolving Ipswich Town squad.

After joining Ipswich Town, Dear said “I’m really happy to have signed for Ipswich and can’t wait to get started.

“It’s such an exciting project here and I’m really looking forward to being a part of the club’s first ever season in the second tier.”

Dear is Ipswich Town’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window.
