Simone Inzaghi explains why he chose Kristjan Asllani and Joaquin Correa to start for Inter against Hellas Verona, insisting they ‘earned this opportunity.’
It kicks off at the Stadio Bentegodi at 14.00 GMT.
This is always a tricky fixture for the Nerazzurri, as it comes after the break for international duty and this has limited their options.
Hakan Calhanoglu irritated the muscular issue playing for Turkey, while Lautaro Martinez is not even on the bench after coming down with flu symptoms.

“It’s normal for us now, as the coach of Inter we usually have 18 players away on international duty, so it’s not easy to train in a normal schedule,” Inzaghi told DAZN.
“I tried to pick those who were here and able to train, the others arrived 48 hours ago, but I see them in good shape.”
That includes Albania international Asllani, who is chosen to pull the midfield strings today rather than Piotr Zielinski.
“Asllani is the player we have a lot of faith in with that role, but unfortunately, when Calhanoglu was injured, he too had a knock to the knee and needed time to recover. He’s ready, had two very good games on international duty with Albania and we really believe in him.”
Tucu Correa also gets a very rare start upfront for Lautaro Martinez, despite seeming to be on the way out in the summer and in January too.
“He earned this opportunity. He’s been working hard since July and knows there is a lot of competition for places,” assured Inzaghi.
“He also knows that even if Lautaro had been available today, he still would’ve had this chance.”
