Matteo Darmian reveals Inter Milan’s dream of defending their Serie A title ahead of a formidable duel against Bukayo Saka tomorrow night.

“The ambitions are always high; when you play for Inter, you always want to reach the maximum,” he said.

“Every day offers a chance for improvement, and we strive to do that.

“We may have dropped some points in the league, but we are committed to our growth and will continue to work hard.”

Though Inter will take on Napoli next weekend, Darmian insists Inter’s eyes remain fixated on Arsenal.

“We are focused on tomorrow, we will think about Napoli later.

“We have to take the field with determination and attention,” he added.

Aware of Arsenal’s strength, Darmian calls for caution.

“We face a strong team and we will need a lot of defensive and offensive work.”

“Being the first year for us, it’s a novelty. We’re not making such thoughts,” Darmian said.

“We’re focused on Arsenal, a strong team with quality that plays great football.

“But we’re no less and want to prove that tomorrow in our stadium, with a victory that will help us.

“We’ll try to play our game, considering Arsenal’s characteristics. We know Saka’s quality but also the other offensive players they have.”

Darmian understands the magnitude of the task awaiting Inter.

“We need to work well defensively as a team and do our best when we have the ball.'”

However, he confirmed Inter refused to focus only on Saka.

“No, we need to pay attention to everyone.

“He is important to them and has qualities in one-on-one situations.

“But Arsenal is a very strong collective, and we will need to do a great job as a team defensively.

“We feel good, we come from a positive period, and we know very well that winning helps to win.

“We haven’t had many days to prepare for this match, but it’s a type of game that prepares itself.

“Tomorrow, we will fight to get the victory.”

Darmian insists only the pitch can tell whether Inter and Arsenal are capable of reaching the Champions League final.

“The pitch will tell. These are two strong teams.

“Arsenal, in recent seasons, have contended for the title with City and are tested.

“We have won titles in recent years. We want to bring home the 3 points. The pitch will tell where we can go.”

Wingback Matteo Darmian Reiterates Inter Milan Serie A Title Ambitions

Darmian is adamant the pressure of defending the Scudetto will not knock Inter off their perch.

“I don’t think so.

“The desire and fierce will to defend the Scudetto must be present; we must want to win again.

“I know this group well, and based on how they work, I have no doubts about their quality and determination,” he insisted.

Lautaro Martinez finished seventh in the Ballon d’Or race.

“I’m not sure if it’s less than deserved,” Darmian admitted.

“Lauti is a great player, and it’s right for him to aim for the highest. We also want to reach the maximum.

“As for us, we’ll always try to put him in the best conditions to express his potential.

“But he doesn’t need that; he’s a great player and a great captain and continues to show it.'”

Darmian also praised Piotr Zielinski.

“A great player and a very nice guy; he integrated immediately and is giving us a big hand, as he will in the future.”

Benjamin Pavard’s omission from the France national team has been among the major talking points.

“Benji is a great player. When he arrived, he immediately made himself available to the group.

“I believe we should always take something positive from every great player.

“Like the team, he has grown and will continue to do so; he is a serious guy with both football and human qualities.

“He will help us moving forward.”

National Team Plans & Contract Renewal

“The national team is very important, and every player aspires to be part of it,” Darmian was clear.

“Spalletti is making significant progress with young talent, building a group that is performing well.

“My focus is on excelling with the club, and we’ll see what happens next. I wish him the best for the upcoming matches/

“I strive to give my all.”

He also discussed his contract renewal at Giuseppe Meazza.

“My teammates say it. I try to be myself in everything I do.

“I come to the pitch to improve, that’s the most important thing.

“When the coach gives me the chance I try to help the team.

“I don’t think about renewal, I think about working, then I have to deserve anything on the pitch.”

Finally, the former Manchester United defender discussed the difference between the Premier League and Serie A.

“I had the chance to play in the Premier League, and it’s a different style of football and culture.

“It’s less tactical; it seems the matches are faster.

“But the Italian league is difficult, as shown by English teams struggling against Italian ones.

“Tomorrow, we’ll try to play our game, aware of our strengths while respecting Arsenal. We’ll aim to win every match.”
