Javier Zanetti is adamant that Inter Milan can win the the Champions League this season.
The Nerazzurri Vice-President spoke to Turkish outlet TRT Spor, via FCInterNews. He also made clear that Inter’s focus is on the derby, but they’ll “look at transfer opportunities.”
Inter have reached the Champions League round of sixteen for the fourth season in a row.
This campaign is a little different than previous ones, however.
Inter needed to finish in the top eight of the Champions League “league phase” table. In so doing they have avoided a playoff round in February.
The Nerazzurri are therefore quite well-placed to move on.
But it will be tough. Inter Milan have learned in recent seasons how unpredictable the Champions League knockouts can be.
Two seasons ago, the Nerazzurri made it all the way to the final of Europe’s top club competition.
But on the other hand, on either side of that memorable run, Inter went out at the round of sixteen. They exited the competition to Liverpool and Atletico Madrid.
Therefore, Inter Milan know full well that they can’t take the quarterfinals for granted.
Inter Vice-President Zanetti said that “We have a great group, both on and off the pitch.”
“Our coach Inzaghi has brought his mentality to the team,” he went on. “His ideas.”

‘This group is very united,” said Zanetti.
“We care a lot about succeeding. The group shows a great sense of everyone belonging.”
“I believe Inter have been competitive across all competitions for the last 4-5 seasons,” said the Nerazzurri Vice-President.
“And we want to keep doing so.”
Zanetti continued that “We were very motivated to finish in the top eight.”
And as far as the last few days of the transfer window, Zanetti said that “We’re discussing it.”
“But honestly, at the moment we’re focused on Sunday’s match in the league. The Derby.”
Zanetti hinted that “If we find an opportunity, we’ll certainly consider taking it.”
“But I will reiterate. This team is already complete.”
