Though continental glory eluded the Nerazzurri in 2023, they can right those wrongs on Saturday.

Standing in their way are perennial Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite Inter’s status as a pre-match outsider, expectations are high heading into the Allianz Arena showpiece.

After all, victory is the only way for Inter to avoid their first trophyless season under Simone Inzaghi.

Indeed, Napoli removed the San Siro outfit from the Serie A podium last weekend.

Furthermore, Inzaghi’s charges flopped in the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana earlier in the season.

Therefore, all eyes will be on the most coveted prize in club football.

It’s been 15 years since Inter last won the Champions League.

More importantly, that’s the title they’ve only lifted three times throughout history.

On the other hand, they conquered Serie A last term, taking home a landmark 20th Scudetto.

As such, Francesco Acerbi would trade domestic success for continental glory every day.

“The best thing would be to lift the Champions League,” the veteran defender stated.

“If someone had told me at the start of the season that I’d lose the league but play in the Champions League final, I would’ve chosen the Champions League.

“I won the league last year – it was up to us to win it again, but we lost it ourselves.

As a true sportsman, the veteran defender congratulated Napoli for the victory.

“Congratulations to Napoli, but the Champions League is the cup of all cups.”
