Under-19 duo Mattia Zanchetta and Luka Topalovic will be called up for Inter Milan in tomorrow’s Serie A match against Empoli.
This according to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that one of the teenage duo could make their debut amid an injury crisis in midfield.
Inter are currently dealing with something of an injury crisis in midfield.
Hakan Calhanoglu is currently out. He’ll be on the sidelines until the end of January.
And Henrikh Mkhitaryan is just coming back from an injury. The expectation is that the Armenian will be available against Empoli tomorrow – but only for a limited number of minutes.
Considering these injuries in midfield, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is ready to turn to the youth ranks.
The Nerazzurri coach will include a couple of young players from the Under-19 or Primavera side.
Furthermore, one of these is 18-year-old Mattia Zanchetta.
Meanwhile, another is Slovenian midfielder Luka Topalovic, who joined Inter during the summer.
Moreover, reports the Gazzetta, one of Zanchetta or Topalovic could very well get a run-out in the second half.
This would be similar to defender Mike Aidoo making his debut in the Coppa Italia against Udinese.
